Poem

                         alistairshepherd.uk
                         is my home on the
                       web, my personal website.
                      a pers- -onal website
                     is not like a
                   corp- -orate site, and
                  mine is no diff-
               -erant. my main pur- -pose
isn't to be functional, or to sell
any- -thing, it is not to edu- -cate
             nor to enter- -tain. not
really any- -way. its purp- -ose
is to be me. it doesn't
need to be under- -stand- -able
or easy to read, as you
are learn- -ing. (lol) I find joy
in making, being a crafts- -person
and my medium is the code i
commit with my own hands. it speaks
to the values I hold, the pers- -on
i am. the web allows so many to
achieve that, in it's simp- -licity and acce-
-ssessibility, and whilst tech keeps anger- -ing me I
still find hope and joy in the web and what it can
achieve for society. if you care for the
web, thank you. you are my people. if you
don't, join us. anyone can learn to write html
in hours, or you could use a platform and write.
the point is to make it yours. be you here.
reject tech capi- -tal- -sim, those enor- -mous
taran- -tulas gobb- -ling up the webs of
us small spiders. join us little bois,
show- -ing who we are and the values
we care for, our weirdnesses and silly
vis- -ual poems about the web
that were improv- -ised (can you
tell?). the world is a weird
place right now, and not in a
good way. but the web- -sites
           and spaces crea- -ted out
            of passion shine bright and
keep me excited about technology. my
web- -site is here to be pretty, to
              be the art piece that
               I would struggle to
               express other- -wise.
                I am just a
                 little spider, weaving my
                              web not out of need
                                        but out of the
                                                  joy it brings me

A rambly poem I wrote in the shape of a spider's web (I hope that comes through lol) in late September 2026 with some web friends. Write your own web poem and join us!
